Dear Sir/Madam,

Application for the position of Laboratory Technician (Fortune Food Manufacturing Pte Ltd)

I am a final year undergraduate majoring in Food Science and Technology at the National University of Singapore (NUS). I will graduate by end of May this year and is interested in the above mentioned career opportunity offered by your company.

Currently, I am doing my industrial attachment at Nestlé Pte Ltd, Singapore as part of my graduation requirement for the course. I started the internship in December 2009 as a quality control (QC) intern. This has given me the opportunity for more hands-on and practical experiences in the food and beverage industry. Moreover, I am familiar with commonly-used food processing equipment in the production line. I believe what I have gained so far and will experience for the next few months will be useful in enhancing my analytical and experimental skills. Therefore, I would like to seek the opportunity to work in your company in providing quality consumer essentials across Singapore and the region.

I have been staying on-campus in King Edward VII Hall for three years. Throughout my undergraduate life in NUS, I am also actively involved in hall and university level extracurricular activities. I was appointed the Secretariat Head for my hall’s Orientation Committee in 2009. I was also the Vice Head for the hall’s Publications Committee. Being involved in such leadership positions has fully enriched my university life because I learned the essential skill of effective time management. It was a challenge which rewarded me with the ability to handle different kinds of situation and people. This involved effective communication and most importantly building team rapport. I believe that I will be a contributor to your company with these managerial and motivational skills. At the same time, I am also willing to engage in new activities to enhance my personal developmental skills.

Taking up several modules in NUS had provided me with the learning experience of integrating computational techniques with laboratory skills. I am able to use the Microsoft Office applications and am familiar with effective data handling because that was required of me as the Secretariat Head. Hence, I am an organised individual. In addition to possessing the qualities above, commuting distance is not a problem for me.

I hope that my qualification and skills will render me a suitable candidate in contributing to your company’s vision as a progressive leader in the food manufacturing business, a trusted brand by consumers and an efficient food distribution partner. Please find my enclosed resume. I look forward to hearing your favourable response.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Ms. Stephanie Kho
